Use this price book in LockCommandHow to use it
A price book is the list you quote from. With one, every phone quote sounds the same no matter who answers, and you stop making up a number while the caller waits. This builder gives you a starting list of common locksmith jobs, lets you set your own prices, and prints a one page sheet you can keep in the van or by the office phone.
How to use it
- Remove the jobs you don't do with the bin button. Add the ones you do from the buttons under each section.
- Type a low and a high price for each job. Low is the quick, simple version of the job. High is the slow one: older locks, high security cylinders, a car that fights you.
- Add your own jobs with "Your own job", and pick the closest kind of job so LockCommand files it in the right place.
- Set a trip fee if you charge one on every call. Use 0 if your prices already cover the drive.
- Turn on the after-hours charge, pick a dollar amount or a percent, and set the hours it applies.
- Print the sheet or save it as a PDF. Or copy it as text and paste it into a note on your phone.
What the sheet shows
Jobs are grouped into house, car, business and safe work. Each job shows its normal range, and when the after-hours charge is on, a second column shows the after-hours range. A dollar amount is added to both ends of the range. A percent is applied to both ends, so a $95–$165 lockout with a 25% charge becomes $118.75–$206.25 after hours.
A worked example
Say you charge $95–$165 for a car lockout, a $35 trip fee, and $50 more from 6 PM to 8 AM. A caller locked out at 10 PM hears a range of $145–$215 for the lockout plus the $35 trip fee. On paper, the sheet lists the lockout at $95–$165 with $145–$215 in the after-hours column, and the footer explains both fees, so a new tech or a dispatcher quotes the same way you would.
Tips for setting your ranges
- Work out your floor first. The hourly cost calculator shows the smallest ticket worth the drive, and the job profit calculator shows what is left after parts, time, fuel and card fees.
- Keep the high end honest. If you end up above the high price often, raise it, so callers aren't surprised at the door.
- Rekeys and key copies are often priced per cylinder or per key. Put that in the job name, like "Rekey, per cylinder".
- Car keys vary by make, model and year. In LockCommand you can add car prices by vehicle on top of this list.
Using it in LockCommand
The button under the sheet carries your price book to the sign-up page. When you create your shop, your jobs replace the starter price list, your trip fee becomes a travel fee and your after-hours charge becomes your night surcharge with the same hours. The trip fee applies once you set your shop's location. The AI receptionist then quotes callers from your ranges and adds the surcharges that apply at the time of the call. When two of your jobs are the same kind, like two lock changes, the receptionist quotes the first one on the list, so keep your main job at the top of each kind. Nothing is sent anywhere until you click the button, and this page doesn't store your prices.
