The money goes from your customer to your Stripe, Square or PayPal, or your Venmo, Cash App, Zelle or PayPal.me. It never passes through LockCommand.

How it works

Step by step, in the order it happens.
  1. Finish the job

The invoice starts from the job, with your shop's tax rate. Add lines or a discount if you need to.
  2. Send it by text

The customer gets a text with the invoice number, the amount and a link to view and pay.
  3. They pay your account

Card payments go straight to your Stripe, Square or PayPal account. Pay links open PayPal.me, Venmo or Cash App with the amount filled in, or show your Zelle details.
  4. It's marked paid

Stripe, Square and PayPal tell LockCommand when a payment lands, and the invoice is marked paid. Cash, check and app payments are marked paid by the tech.
  5. Receipt and review

The receipt goes out by text, and a review request follows two hours later if you've added a review link.

What you control

All of it is set in the app, most of it by the shop owner or an admin.
  • Card payments

Set up Stripe from the app (an account in your shop's name, with its own Stripe dashboard), connect your Square account, or use PayPal checkout.

  • Pay links

Your PayPal.me, Venmo and Cash App handles, your Zelle email or phone, a Stripe payment link, or one custom link of your own.

  • Tax rate

One shop tax rate, applied to every invoice.

  • Tips

Quick 10, 15 or 20 percent tip buttons when you record a payment.

  • Who collects

Techs take payment on their own jobs. Owners, admins and accountants manage invoices.

Honest limits

Worth knowing before you set it up, so nothing surprises you on a job.

  • Your payment provider's own fees still apply. We add nothing on top.

  • Refunds happen in your Stripe, Square or PayPal dashboard, not in LockCommand.

  • No deposits yet. Partial payments are tracked and the balance stays on the invoice.

  • Venmo, Cash App, Zelle and PayPal.me payments are marked paid by hand, because those apps don't report back to us.

  • PayPal checkout depends on our PayPal partner setup. Until it's live for your shop, use a PayPal.me link.

Payments questions

Does LockCommand take a percentage of my payments?
No. There's no LockCommand fee on any payment, and the money goes from your customer to your own account. Your payment provider's normal fees still apply.
Can I use my existing Square account?
Yes. Connect it from Payments and accounting in the app. For Stripe, LockCommand sets up a Stripe account in your shop's name that you manage in your own Stripe dashboard.
Can customers pay with Venmo, Cash App or Zelle?
Yes. Add your handles once. The invoice link opens Venmo or Cash App with the amount filled in, or shows your Zelle email or phone. The tech marks it paid when the money arrives.
How do I refund a customer?
In your Stripe, Square or PayPal dashboard. If a payment was recorded in LockCommand by mistake, an owner, admin or accountant can delete it.
Do payments go to QuickBooks?
If you connect QuickBooks Online, invoices and payments copy across on their own a few seconds after they're saved.
