## Pick what you're looking at

Driver's license, passport, registration, lease or a utility bill. The tech picks the document, takes two photos and types the name on the ID.

- The place is attached by default; the tech can switch it off for one check
- Before and after photos on any job
- Each check needs at least an ID photo, a proof photo or the name on the ID

## Make the check a rule

Turn on “Require ID check before completing” in Shop details. Solo or dispatch, no job closes until the tech has recorded ID and proof of ownership.

- Off by default
- Covers every job type, not only lockouts
- Whether to open the door is always your call

## The photos stay in the shop

ID photos live on the job in your shop's account, not on someone's camera roll. In the app, other techs and accountants see only that the ID was checked.

- Members of a shop share its records, so invite only people you trust
- Remove anyone who leaves the shop

## How it works

Step by step, in the order it happens.

1. **Ask on the call**: The AI receptionist reminds callers to have a photo ID and proof of ownership or residence ready.
2. **Pick the document**: On site, the tech picks what they're looking at: driver's license, state ID, passport, vehicle registration, lease, utility bill or something else.
3. **Take the photos**: A photo of the ID and a photo of the proof: registration, insurance card or VIN for a car; lease, bill or mail for a home. Then type the name on the ID.
4. **Get a signature**: The customer signs on the tech's phone.
5. **It's saved on the job**: With the time, the tech who checked it and the location, so the record is there if anyone asks later.

## What you control

All of it is set in the app, most of it by the shop owner or an admin.

- Require ID check before completing: In Shop details, for solo and dispatch shops. When it's on, a tech has to record ID and proof of ownership before the job can be marked complete. It's off by default.
- Location on the record: “Attach my location” is on by default. The tech can switch it off for a single check.
- Job photos: Add before and after photos, with captions, to any job.

## Honest limits

Worth knowing before you set it up, so nothing surprises you on a job.

- LockCommand keeps what the tech records. It doesn't read or verify IDs, and it can't tell a fake from a real one.
- When the ID rule is on, it covers every job type, not only lockouts.
- Each check needs at least an ID photo, a proof photo or the name on the ID.
- In the app, ID photos open for owners, admins, dispatchers and the tech on the job. Other techs and accountants see that the ID was checked. Members of a shop share its records, so invite only people you trust.
- Whether to open the door is always your call. Rules on proof and record keeping differ by state, so check yours.

## ID & proof questions

### What counts as proof of ownership in LockCommand?

The tech records the document type (driver's license, state ID, passport, vehicle registration, lease, utility bill or other), a photo of the ID, a photo of the proof and the name on the ID. Deciding whether it's enough is up to the tech and your shop's rules.

### Does LockCommand check that an ID is real?

No. It records what the tech sees and photographs, with the time and place. It doesn't scan or validate IDs.

### Can I make ID checks mandatory?

Yes, on any plan. Turn on “Require ID check before completing” in Shop details. When it's on, a tech has to record ID and proof of ownership before the job can be marked complete.

### Who can see the ID photos?

In the app, owners, admins, dispatchers and the tech assigned to the job can open them. Other techs and accountants see that the ID was checked. The photos stay in your shop's account instead of on someone's camera roll. Invite only people you trust to your shop.

### What if the customer's ID is locked inside?

Open the door, then do the check before you leave. The record shows when it was done.
