# Run your shop by talking to your AI app.

The AI connector (MCP) links Claude, ChatGPT or any MCP app to LockCommand. Ask “What jobs are open today?” or “Move Mike's 2 pm to 4 pm”, and it does the work in your shop, as you, with your rules.

## You pick how far it can go

When you connect an AI app, LockCommand's sign-in asks what it may do. It works as you, so it can never do more than your role can in the app.

- Read only, Read + change (recommended), or Read + change + send to customers
- The send level only shows if your role can send
- Change the level or disconnect any time, on the web or the phone

## Nothing reaches a customer by surprise

Before a text, quote or invoice goes out, you choose: ask every time, send without asking with a 60-second undo, or send right away. Every action lands in a log.

- Undo a waiting send in LockCommand, or tell the AI “cancel”
- Owners and admins set the most their team may pick
- Job history says “via Claude” (or the app's name)

## 48 tools, in plain words

Jobs, dispatch, customers, prices, quotes, invoices, texts, calls, reports and stock. Each tool runs the same check the app does, and some things have no tool at all.

- No charging cards, refunds or deleting
- No bulk export, key codes or payment keys
- No team, role or security changes

## How it works

Step by step, in the order it happens.

1. **Copy the address**: In LockCommand, open Settings → Connected AI apps and copy https://mcp.lockcommand.com/mcp. It's the same address for every AI app.
2. **Add it to your AI app**: In Claude: Customize → Connectors → + → Add custom connector, then paste the address. In ChatGPT: turn on developer mode and create a connector with the address and OAuth sign-in.
3. **Sign in and pick a level**: Your AI app opens LockCommand's sign-in. Sign in (with 2-step if it's on), pick what the app may do, and press Allow.
4. **Ask in plain words**: “What's on today's board?”, “Create a lockout job for Mike Lane at 2 pm”, “Text the customer the ETA”. It uses LockCommand's tools and tells you what it did.

## What you control

All of it is set in the app, most of it by the shop owner or an admin.

- Level: Read only looks things up. Read + change (recommended) also creates and updates jobs, times, notes, quotes and invoice drafts; nothing reaches a customer. Read + change + send also texts customers, sends quotes, invoices and review requests, and records cash or check payments.
- Before sending to customers: Ask me every time, send without asking with a 60-second undo, or send right away. Change it any time in Settings → Connected AI apps.
- Team rule: Owners and admins can pick any option. They set the most everyone else may pick; the default is the 60-second undo.
- Which sends skip asking: Optional: only some kinds of sends go without asking, and quotes, invoices or payments above an amount you set ask first.
- Optional limits: Off until an owner or admin turns them on: the largest invoice, invoices per day and texts per day. Over a limit, the AI is told to send it from the LockCommand app instead.
- Connected apps: See every AI app on your account, change its level, approve or undo waiting sends, read the last 50 AI actions, and disconnect. Owners and admins see every app in the shop. On the web and in the phone app.

## Honest limits

Worth knowing before you set it up, so nothing surprises you on a job.

What an AI app receives, who handles it there, and what LockCommand keeps: [AI apps in our privacy policy](https://lockcommand.com/legal/privacy#ai-apps)

- Some things never work through an AI app: charging a card, refunds, deleting anything, bulk export, key codes, payment keys, plan and wallet purchases, campaign sends, and team, role or security changes.
- It works as the person who connected it. A tech's AI app can only do what that tech can do in the app.
- Customers are picked from your shop's records. An AI app can't text a number, email or link someone typed in.
- Claude needs a paid plan (Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise) for custom connectors. Whether ChatGPT can add one depends on your ChatGPT plan; OpenAI decides.
- What your AI app receives is handled by that app's provider (for example Anthropic for Claude or OpenAI for ChatGPT), under their terms.
- AI apps can get things wrong. Check what it did; with the 60-second undo you can stop a text before it goes out.

## AI connector questions

### What is MCP?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI apps use outside tools. LockCommand's AI connector is an MCP server, so any AI app that can add an MCP connector can use it.

### Which AI apps work with it?

Claude and ChatGPT, and any other AI app that can add a remote MCP connector with sign-in (OAuth).

### Does it cost extra?

No. The AI connector is included on every plan. Texts it sends are charged like any other text from your shop number.

### What can it do?

48 tools: jobs and dispatch, customers, prices and quotes, invoices and money, texts, calls and the AI receptionist, and reports, team hours and stock. Each one runs the same way it does in the app.

### Can it charge a customer's card or give a refund?

No. There is no tool for charging cards, refunds or deleting anything. At the send level it can record a cash or check payment a tech collected.

### Can my techs use it?

Yes. Anyone on your team can connect their own AI app. It works as them, with their role's permissions, and owners and admins set the most they may pick for sending to customers.

### How do I stop it?

Disconnect it in Settings → Connected AI apps, on the web or in the phone app. Sends still waiting don't go out. “Sign out everywhere” also ends every connection.

### Can a customer's text trick the AI?

LockCommand passes text written by customers and callers to the AI app as data, never as instructions, and flags suspicious text for review. The never-list and your role's rules apply to every call either way.
